Advent Begins This Sunday!
The Season of Advent begins this Sunday, November 27.
Your Adult Formation Discernment Team is inviting and encouraging the entire Saint James’ Parish to read and discuss What Are You Waiting For?, a book of brief daily Advent meditations written by Christine McSpadden, an Episcopal priest, and published by Forward Movement.
The Formation Team is providing a free copy to the first 100 parish households who commit to reading the daily meditations (two short pages) and discussing them in a group setting before or after worship on Sunday, or with a group of friends sometime during the week.
“At no other time of the year does waiting feel so poignant than in the season of Advent, when we wait for things mundane to things sublime. What Are You Waiting For? seeks to transfigure your experience of waiting. Embark on a seasonal journey as these daily meditations work on your soul to bring a richer quality and depth to your understanding and perception of waiting as a lively and life-giving facet of faith.”
This Sunday (November 27), Karla MacKimmie will be distributing books at the 8:00 Eucharist, and Ninie Laing will be distributing books at the 10:15 Eucharist.
The Parish Survey!
The Adult Formation Discernment Team is getting loads of helpful information from the Parish Survey as we plan programs for the Season of Epiphany (January 6-February 28). We thank all of you who have already completed the survey.
The focus of our team is to develop programs and activities that support parishioners in the areas of learning and praying.
What we now need is for the rest of you to let us know your needs and preferences in regard to learning more about the Christian faith and life, and praying more deeply to God.
If you have not yet filled out the survey, please go to the link below and let us know how we can best serve you.
