Firewood Split & Stack Event @ Firewood Stack Site

Our wood ministry is in full force during these cold winter months!  This Saturday, please join us for a Split/Stack event at the collection site in Warrenton.  The weather looks really good after the past two weeks, and we have two log splitters on site ready for volunteers.  We’ll plan to meet at 9am and be completed around 11am so you can enjoy the remainder of your day.

Working in conjunction with the Fauquier Community Coalition, our volunteers donated more than 70 hours of labor at the wood collection site in Warrenton.  From this site, donations of firewood were made to more than 60 families in Fauquier and Rappahannock counties that would not have had wood for heating or cooking without this ministry.

The upcoming months will allow us to organize and get a jump on preparations for the next season; we plan to have split and stack events on the second and fourth Saturdays each month in February, March and April.

Mark your calendars now and plan to join us! We can always use your help, whether you are an experienced lumberjack (or lumberjane) or simply wanting to get some good exercise on a Saturday morning – there’s a job for everyone!

For more information about this ministry or to sign up for volunteer reminders, please contact ministry team leader Colin Borgstrom at 540-270-3285 (cell) or theborginva@gmail.com.

REMINDER:  The collection site is behind Walmart in Warrenton:

— From the Warrenton Walmart, travel past the Walmart and Home Depot, heading to Brumfield Elementary School on Alwington Blvd.

— At the stop sign in front of the school, continue straight (bearing to the left, away from the school)

— Follow Alwington Blvd past the school and drive through Alwington Farm Road into the open field, turning right on the dirt road inside the tree line.

— The collection site is just up ahead.

Holy Eucharist | Rite I @ Nave
Feb 25 @ 8:00 am – 8:45 am

The 8 am worship service uses the Holy Eucharist Rite I order of worship from our prayer book. In this service, you will find the beautiful and full language which still speaks strongly through the Holy Spirit almost a century after it was introduced in the 1928 prayer book. This service is absent of music and allows for quiet contemplation, prayer and worship within the powerful structure and words of Rite I.

Café @ Parish Hall
Feb 25 @ 8:30 am – 10:00 am
Café @ Parish Hall

The Café program is starting our seventh year serving the St. James’ community. Sunday mornings, September through May, the St. James Café is open for breakfast from 8:30-10:00. The goal is to bring our community together and to build relationships, and we especially hope that members who attend different services will get to know each other over a delicious meal served after the 8 o’clock service and before the 10:15.

Volunteer service is a huge part of making this happen every week, and we love to have new people as part of our team.

And remember, the coffee is free, so you don’t need to buy breakfast to have a seat and enjoy the fellowship of coffee hour.
