Saint James’ Build (Day 1)
Oct 20 @ 9:00 am
Saint James' Build (Day 1) @ Midland | Virginia | United States

The next build will be the Saturday the 20th and Sunday the 21st of October.

We’ll start working at 9:00 AM on Saturday and 10:00 AM on Sunday.

We need laborers and skilled builders, and if anyone has plumbing experience, that would be extremely helpful.

The house is in Midland on Blackwelltown Road (email Dorothy for the address).

We are helping a couple who both have major health problems and need help stabilizing their home so it is functional.

We will be putting gutters on, replacing rotted floors and possibly doing some work on the kitchen cabinet for the sink. The extent of what we can do depends largely on labor and skilled people to guide the process.

Saint James’ builds is happy to have all ages work on projects, though we ask that a parent accompany any kids on site and be responsible for their welfare. If you have younger kids I can come up with a suitable project for them if I am informed of their coming. Youth leaders can determine which youths they  chaperone without a parent present.

We could also use a volunteer to coordinate food for Sunday. If you have questions, text or call Dorothy at 540-219-9001.

Holy Eucharist | Rite II @ Nave
Oct 21 @ 10:15 am – 11:30 am
Holy Eucharist | Rite II @ Nave | Warrenton | Virginia | United States

For the larger of the two Sunday-morning services, we gather at 10:15am to the sound of the organ as the choir, acolytes and other worship ministers process through the congregation.

This service follows the more celebratory and contemporary language of Rite II from The Book of Common Prayer, complemented by hymns, anthems and service music among prayers and periods of silence before culminating with the celebration of the Eucharist.

This service usually lasts around one hour and fifteen minutes, and is followed by coffee hour in the parish hall, a time to connect with the Saint James’ community after a week apart.

Children are invited to attend Sunday school during the first half of worship or are equally welcome to remain with their families for the entire service. Additionally, nursery is available from 10:15-11:45 AM every Sunday.

Every Sunday morning, Saint James’ offers two opportunities to worship together as a community. While both worship services follow the same general format, including celebrating the Eucharist (Communion), each service speaks to people a bit differently.

At any service at Saint James’ where the Eucharist is offered, we invite everyone who feels called to come forward to receive the bread and wine.  If you are more comfortable doing so, you may also come to the altar rail with your arms crossed over your chest to receive a blessing.

Firewood Ministry Split & Stack @ Firewood Collection Site

Firewood Ministry Split & Stack @ Firewood Collection Site

You can help!

Join us at the wood collection site (click here for directions) to help split and stack firewood for our neighbors this winter.

We have an abundance of wood at the site that needs to be split – we have access to at least three log splitters and need teams of 2-3 per splitter to maximize our time.

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY – there’s a task for every skill level, gender, and age.

We plan to deliver more than 100 truckloads of firewood this upcoming season to dozens of families in Fauquier.
