If you see one of our Sunday School teachers, please take a minute to say thanks for the great job they’ve been doing this year! We are especially grateful to Haifleigh Pritchard, who is giving her time every Sunday to work with our 3rd-5th graders, helping them manage the crucial shift from Sunday School to confirmation preparation.
We’ve also managed to align the curriculum in all three grade levels, meaning that all of our students are addressing the same themes each week, even when they are not looking at the exact same scripture. Our goal in this has been to facilitate family conversations during the week, by ensuring that everyone is operating from a common base. Remember to check out the Table Talk we issue each week, which provides a broad overview of what your children learned and some questions you can use to start the conversation.
We are coming up on a busy time for acolytes, including Holy Week. In happy news, this is the last year that school spring break and Holy Week will overlap! In the meantime, please reach out and let me know if you will be in town this year so I can schedule your children.
We are also always looking for additional acolytes. Please reach out if you have children in 3rd grade or higher who would like to participate.
First, thanks to the parents who have provided dinner for everyone at the meetings. It is appreciated.
Our high school leaders have continued their great work with our older students. Our Parent’s Night Out was a great event and provided support for the church’s Soroti ministry. We had 24 kids participate in the ski weekend this month and planning is underway for our Youth Sunday on May 7th and this summer’s mission trip.
Our Middle School Youth Group team has done a fantastic job settling into the routine and balancing fun and formation. Confirmation for our 8th graders is on May 14th at the 10:15 service, please contact Nancy if you need to register your child. We’ll celebrate our 8th graders and continue our examination of the Church’s Ministries on May 7th, when we visit the Luray Singing Tower for a picnic, behind the scenes tour given by our own Jesse Ratcliffe and a chance to see how he takes music out of the church to the community at large.
