We completed our 40th school year at Saint James’ Episcopal School and it certainly was a memorable one. Thestudents, faculty and staff enjoyed celebrating our School with birthday cake and hats- stories from former teachers, alumni and friends, the Night in Havana gala, our Children’s Eucharist in May at the Church, and the return of ourpioneer class of 2015. But the celebration isn’t over!  We look forward to the church and school social in August and a reception in December to cheer on the next 40 years!

Because traditions add vibrancy to our church and school community, we held many other special events this spring from preschool field days and the beloved Mother’s Day Tea to the musicals performed by our elementary students and graduation ceremonies for all. The fifth-grade class presented their individual service projects to the elementary student body and gifted the School beautiful new outdoor tables for all ages to utilize.  The connection between our school virtues, personal interests and our role as contributing members of our local and global community is one of the most valuable lessons, we hope our students gain from their time spent at Saint James' Episcopal School.

In May, we graduated our eighth fifth grade class and fourteen students will move on to middle school. In addition, we welcomed back our very first fifth grade graduates in a “Pioneer Parade” - the alumni wore their high school graduation caps and gowns and paraded through the Church and School as the students, faculty and staff cheered.  They are called the “pioneer” class because they boldly took a leap of faith and enrolled in each new grade as we built the elementary program from the ground up. Life after high school may be different for each - college, the Marines, self-employed, trade school…but they always know that Saint James’ will be a place to call home.

Our summer camps have begun and will continue through August with fun-filled, weekly-themed camps. There are camps for preschoolers and elementary-aged children including a nature camp at Chapultepec Farm in Orlean, home of Jimmy and Sally Timberlake. Summer camp was very popular this year, so much so that all are full, and we have waitlists for many!
