Looking for a creative way to celebrate your child’s birthday or pay tribute to a special person in your life? Give the gift of reading through the SJES Book Dedication Program!
How It Works
By contributing $20 to the Book Dedication Program, a new book will be added to the SJES library in honor of your child’s birthday or in honor/memory of someone special.
- Birthday Books: Your child can come to the library during his or her birthday week and choose a book from a selection of new, pre-purchased books. This will become your child’s birthday book and a commemorative bookplate sticker with your child’s name and birthday will be placed inside the front cover. Your child will have the privilege to be the first one to check out the book, and will have the option to give a book talk (short talk about the book with the goal of persuading classmates to read it) during the next library class if interested. Then, this book will become a welcome addition to our SJES library where it can be enjoyed for years to come!
- Honor/Memory Books: You may designate a specific subject area or let us select a book for the SJES library. You may also purchase books and donate them directly to the library. Each new book will receive a commemorative bookplate with both the names of the person honored or memorialized and the donor as well as an inscription. We will notify the designated individual or family about your gift. The amount of all gifts remains confidential. Donating a book or other material in honor or in memory of someone is a unique way to pay tribute, and our students will benefit from your thoughtfulness.
