Christian Education at St. James'
Our Sunday School’s Mission:

To educate our children in a fun and experiential
environment, promoting a love and interest in bible stories,
Episcopal tradition and Christian ethics.

Sunday Preschool
Our preschoolers attend Sunday Preschool held in our
Nursery. The children will hear a story and participate in a
related activity or craft. Our curriculum is built around the
Veggie Tales characters. Sunday Preschool is held from 9:
30-10:30. The children can be picked up at 10:30 to
attend our worship service or remain in the Nursery for a
snack and free time.

K-5 Sunday School
We meet in our Activity Room from 9:30-10:30. We use our
downstairs Chapel for our storytelling. Our elementary
school aged program has a “one-room schoolhouse”
approach. By allowing siblings, friends and guests to stay
together, our children can feel welcomed and comfortable.
Parents are welcome to participate at any time. Our
curriculum is a mix of published materials, Godly Play and
our church’s lectionary calendar. The combined result
helps our children learn the wonders of the Bible while
placing the lessons into the framework of our worship as
Episcopalians.  We will include stories from both the Old
and New Testaments as well as elements of our worship
such as the church calendar, Holy Eucharist and Baptism.

Middle & High School
Fr. Pierce leads a Bible study on Sundays from 9:30-10:30
in his office.  All middle school and high school students
are invited to attend.  Student Bibles are provided.

K-5th Grade Sunday School
We will meet each Sunday in the Activity
Room. Our Bible story will be told in our
downstairs Chapel.  Our theme for the fall
is the “Jesse Tree.”  Our Bible Stories will
include (Old Testament) Creation, Adam &
Eve, Noah, Abraham, . . ., Moses, . . .,
David and (New Testament) Mary,
Joseph, John the Baptist and Jesus.
There are ornaments associated with
each of the stories which will be part of
the activity.  This will also be the theme for
our float in the Warrenton Christmas
Parade in which we will build a tree and
create the associated ornaments.  The
children can dress as the characters in
the bible stories and march in the parade.

Sunday Preschool
Our Sunday Preschool Class will meet in
our Nursery from 9:30 – 10:30.  The
program is based on the Veggie Tales
characters.  Bob the Tomato, Larry the
Cucumber and their other veggie friends
will role play to bring value lessons and
bible stories alive to our preschoolers.
Parents’ are welcome to pick their child up
from the Nursery at 10:30 or allow them to
stay for snack and free time during our
worship service.
