Sunday, September 10: A Day You Should Be At Church!

Sunday, September 10 marks the start of several Saint James’ ministries and programs for the fall, and we hope you’ll jump on board!

Children’s Sunday School

Now starting at 10:15 AM

Sunday School start time is changing! Beginning September 10, we will no longer be asking parents to drop off their children for Sunday School children before the service. Instead, you should bring your children into church with you and they will all process out together at 10:15 am, when Father Ben starts the announcements. Thank you in advance for helping us make this transition. Please reach out to Laura Updyke at if you have any questions.

Worship & Adult Formation

FInding god in creation

Both worship and adult formation this fall will focus on finding God in Creation.

The adult formation course for the fall is “Learning More about Francis of Assisi and Creation.” Our course book is Eager to Love: The Alternative Way of Francis of Assisi, by Richard Rohr. The course begins September 10 and ends November 26. We will meet on Sundays, 9:15-10:00 and 11:45-12:30, and Tuesdays, 10:30-11:30. The book costs $10. Contact Fr Randolph at to order a book and register for the course.

Our worship for five Sundays, September 10-October 8, will take the form of Creation Season. The readings, music, prayers, and sermons will all focus on finding God in Creation. We will celebrate a Celtic Eucharist on Sep. 10 and a St. Francis Day Eucharist on October 8.

Season of creation

Did you know that the Season of Creation begins Sept. 1 and extends through Oct. 4, the Feast Day of St. Francis? The Season of Creation offers Christians of all denominations an opportunity to be united in prayer and action for our “fragile island home, this Earth.”  Click here for some great resources for this special season.

“All-powerful God, you are present in the whole universe and in the smallest of your creatures. You embrace with your tenderness all that exists. Pour out upon us the power of your love, that we may protect life and beauty.” -Excerpt from Pope Francis’ Prayer for the Earth

Saint James’ Café

returning for the fall

Warrenton’s best kept secret will be opening in September. Yes…Saint James’ Café will be serving once again those amazing dishes between services on Sunday’s beginning September 10. If you haven’t made it for breakfast we highly advise that you do. It really is the best deal in town. Great food and a wonderful time to mingle with fellow parishioners from both services.

To keep this finely tuned machine running every Sunday requires volunteers to help prepare the food, keep the line replenished, set up the day before and collect the small fee. If you are interested in volunteering for any of these positions please contact Jody Delsignore at or Patti Reid at
