Join us this Saturday from 9-11a at the Wood Collection Site in Warrenton for a split/stack event. The weather looks wonderful for an hour or two of outdoor work!
Specific needs for this Saturday:
- Teams of 2-3 for each of 3 gas-powered log splitters onsite to split wood (no experience necessary)
- Numerous volunteers to sort and stack the split wood onto pallets throughout the site
- Volunteers with chainsaws to cut down logs to a size that can be further split
Make it a family event – there’s a job for everyone, no matter your experience level. We even have work in the community garden onsite for little ones.

The next Firewood Ministry Split & Stack Morning is Saturday, March 24. Click here for more info via Facebook.
Our firewood ministry was in full force during the cold winter months!
Working in conjunction with the Fauquier Community Coalition, our volunteers donated more than 70 hours of labor at the wood collection site in Warrenton.
From this site, donations of firewood were made to more than 60 families in Fauquier and Rappahannock counties that would not have had wood for heating or cooking without this ministry.

Due to the rain and forecast for more rain this weekend, we are cancelling the planned split/stack event for this Saturday (Feb 24). Please plan to join us at our next planned event on Saturday, March 10!
In the meantime, winter is still hanging around (even if it doesn’t feel like it at the moment!) and we have weekly requests for delivery of wood to homes in central/southern Fauquier. If you have a pickup truck or trailer and can spare an hour or more once a week, please contact Wood Ministry Team Leader Colin Borgstrom at 540-270-3285 or via email at email@example.com to be added to the delivery email list. Thank you in advance for your help with this vital ministry!

Our wood ministry is in full force during these cold winter months! This Saturday, please join us for a Split/Stack event at the collection site in Warrenton. The weather looks really good after the past two weeks, and we have two log splitters on site ready for volunteers. We’ll plan to meet at 9am and be completed around 11am so you can enjoy the remainder of your day.

The upcoming months will allow us to organize and get a jump on preparations for the next season; we plan to have split and stack events on the second and fourth Saturdays each month in February, March and April.

“Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers.” – Romans 12:13
Fauquier County is one of the materially wealthiest places in the United States. But that’s not true for everyone who lives here.
Roughly 4,000 people in Fauquier live below the poverty level. And in an area where land prices are high and affordable housing scarce, even more people struggle to make ends meet and to afford those basic needs like decent housing and heat during the winter.
Colin Borgstrom, who heads up the Saint James’ Wood Ministry, emphasizes that the need is everywhere, not just in areas of the county that have been especially left behind in economic development.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 10 | 9-11am | @ WARRENTON COLLECTION SITE
Thank you to Rick Miller, Jody Del Signore, Lynn Ward, and the Borgstrom boys for delivering much needed wood to five families throughout Fauquier County last Saturday!
The Wood Ministry has identified eight families thus far that are in dire need of wood for heating of their homes this winter. We’ve been working hard for several months to split and stack wood for these winter deliveries, and we have depleted the stored wood from the upper site.
We are planning our next big split / stack / delivery date on Saturday morning, December 10 from 9-11 at the Warrenton Collection site.

The cold weather is upon us (in case you haven’t been outside!) We have been preparing for months by splitting and stacking mountains of wood at the Warrenton collection. Now it’s time to deliver!

We are looking for volunteers to help us deliver cords of wood to homes throughout Fauquier this Saturday morning. We need pickup trucks or vehicles with sturdy trailers along with drivers and delivery volunteers. Teams of two to three with load up at the Warrenton collection site behind Walmart and be assigned 1-2 dropoffs in the county. Residents who will be receiving wood will be aware of the delivery, so it will not be a surprise when you arrive.

Wood Ministry Collection Date – This Saturday, October 15, 8:30a-12pm
Third time’s a charm! The weather looks very promising for this Saturday so we’re planning to chop and stack (and maybe deliver) lots of wood for families in need in our area. In conjunction with the local church outreach efforts mentioned in the newspaper this past week, we will have a few members from several churches also joining us at the site but there is a lot of work to do.
We have expanded the collection time to 8:30am to 12 noon on Saturday. Please drop by if you are in town and willing to donate an hour or two to help chop, split, and stack wood. If you have a pick-up truck or trailer, we may have some deliveries for you (in a team) as well – Lynn Ward will coordinate that onsite on Saturday morning.
