Celebration!

Our Afghan family is making progress with acclimating to America. Rana has passed her written Driving Test and now has a Learner's Permit! She is thrilled and very excited to begin driving lessons. As the elder daughter, Rana shoulders much of the responsibility for the family survival and realizes the independence that will come for the family when they can drive and have a car of their own. Rana has also received a scholarship from NOVA in Manassas for the spring semester and is very happy for this opportunity. Sana has taken a placement test and will soon be attending high school in Manassas, which will greatly help her learn English. Mohammad and Sohaila are happy as their eldest son and his wife in France have had their first baby, so now Mohammad and Sohaila have their first grandson! The entire family has received dental care from Dr. Susan Griffen from Saint James and will be receiving vaccines and flu shots from a local pharmacy this week. They are grateful for all the care and concern from Saint James and especially were touched by the beautiful music from our worship service a week ago, along with the prayers for Samim, their son in Pakistan.
