Managing Stress from Trauma and Past Issues
Most people have experienced psychological trauma in some form of
other, usually beginning when they are a young child, before the age
of seven. This then creates a “freeze and/or or a continuing
momentum of reacting in a way (can be protective or attacking) that
isn’t productive and helpful. It can keep you from moving forward to
your next steps.
How then does one break the cycle, and instead replace it with a
meaningful and productive response, to life and to others? I have a
PhD in ecopsychology, and have found that purposeful, conscious
interaction with Nature can help, as well as purposely “uncovering”
the buried trauma and changing it to something positive. I’ve
designed a “Christ Light” approach using the basic work from the
Nature Connect program (www.projectnatureconnect.org) and also
use a 12 week process based on the book “The Presence Process” by
Michael Brown. You’re welcome to contact me at
gerry7253@gmail.com for more information. I’ll also be participating
in the upcoming St. James retreat.
With love,
