Saint James’ New Refugee Family

Our Saint James Refugee Ministry is pleased to announce our co-sponsorship, with Centreville Presbyterian and Greenwich Presbyterian churches, of a new Afghan family now settled in an apartment in Manassas.

The family consists of a father, mother, one daughter age 13, and three sons ages 12, 9 and 6. The family is here lawfully on Humanitarian visas and for security purposes we will call them Mark (father), Jane (mother), Susan (daughter), David (12), Max (9), and Jack (6). Aliases are necessary to protect left behind relatives from Taliban retribution. The Taliban are constantly scanning the internet for evidence of targets leaving Afghanistan for the U.S. We've created a sign up genius page to provide necessary items for our family. Mark has worked for USAID and other US contractors, he has two master’s degrees. Jane has an associate’s degree in math and has worked as a kindergarten teacher.

They are working hard on assimilating and learning English. The family arrived with nothing and no financial resources, after years of hiding from the Taliban. They initially stayed in a garage in Bealeton for three weeks with no furniture or AC. Saint James and our companion churches are initially assisting them with rent and some utilities while Mark tries to find work. We hope you will be able to meet them in person soon. Please pray for them.

Please use sign up genius to see if they have any needs you could fill.
