This week in Sunday School your children listened to a story called “Holy Week” if you tuned in on Facebook. We are delighted to be able to host Sunday School in person again and if your children attended in person, they heard a special Godly Play story from Mrs. Norma focusing on Holy Week.
While there is a great emphasis on Palm Sunday and Easter at this time of year, Holy Week encompasses all of Jesus’ final days. Maundy Thursday includes the Last Supper and the origins of the communion of bread and wine that we revisit every church service. Good Friday provides a time to pause and reflect on the sorrow of Jesus’ sacrifice and death before we enter the joy of Easter.
Please take a moment this week to talk to your children about what this week means to you as a Christian and a parent, remembering that the journey that started with the birth of a child on Christmas Day is ending this Friday with the loss of that child. We cannot truly enter the joy of Easter without first embracing the sorrow that preceded it.
Please know your family is invited to join any of our Holy Week services being offered at church this week. On Easter Sunday, please bring a flower from your garden to participate in the flowering of the cross (or select from the
flowers we provide). While there will not be Sunday School on Easter Sunday, we will have a couple special guests following our 10:15 service for our annual Easter Egg hunt. Nursery will be available for children ages 3 and under.
